T Sport Bernau adds another notch to the belt - 2022 FIA ETRC

Recently the T Sport Bernau team travelled to Le Mans, France for the penultimate round of the 2022 FIA Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship. The championship is a great event for fans and visitors with tons of action not only on the track. Show trucks, stunt performances and fireworks served as an awesome backdrop to a variety of entertainment as well as rows of trade stands packed with all kinds of gizmos.

The expectations for Saturday were high and after cruising through the free practice session Antonio and the team had no doubts about what to come. After qualifying and superpole he ultimately secured himself 3rd position on the grid, a position he held for the duration of the race hence earning a place on the podium.

In the second race contact from another truck sent Antonio off the circuit! Thankfully, no one was harmed but the truck got both front tyres damaged sufficient for the race to be over. Disappointing of course, but safety first even for top athletes with a trophy within reach!

With the all-in-all promising start of the weekend there was good reason for the whole team to feel confident as they headed out on Sunday. After easily advancing through qualifying, the superpole session was fiercely contested and the T Sport Bernau lap time was just slightly slower than those who finished fourth and third place. In the race Antonio would start in fifth place and ultimately end up as no 6.

In the last race of the weekend T Sport Bernau unfortunately lost a place due to a chaotic start into the race. Although Antonio was able to follow the leading pack closely Norbert Kiss managed to charge through and make a pass nearing the end of the race. Once again Antonio finished 5th and gathered some more of those coveted championship points.

As the event came to an end T Sport Bernau - along with Norbert Kiss and the Révész Racing team - secured the 2022 team championship with an entire racing weekend remaining thanks to a massive team effort. T Sport Bernau managed to maintain the top performance of the truck so Antonio could do his magic, allowing them to score those crucial championship points. The season finale will take place at Antonio's home circuit of Jarama in Spain and we wish them the best of luck!
